Help us move these children into their new home!
The House of Mercy orphanage near Nairobi, Kenya houses over 80 children of all ages. The children are now living in a rented complex adjacent to their former unit.
This unit is on higher grounds and should be safe from the flooding that plagued them at the former complex. However, the unit is still much too small to house this many children and the conditions are extremely unsanitary. The children sleep 3 or 4 per bed (not room...bed) with no proper washrooms. They have only a small courtyard for playing that sewage runs through.
A new building is being constructed and is nearly complete. The second floor and roof need to be finished soon because the children will be moving to this new home on December 1, 2011
